In many places in Africa the canoe is way more important than a car. It is affordable and buildable by many people, it also opens the doors to transportation where cars can not go. The economic advantage for food transportation and fishing is also substantial. Canoes are also a great way for tourist to get around, if you are paddling though a National park, or getting up or down a river to see another site, most of the time you will be doing this in a traditional dugout canoe.
